The short version: the Midnight Ultras app has no accounts and no ads, and it doesn't track you. What you set up stays on your phone. The only thing we collect is a few anonymous counts, which you can switch off.
What the app keeps on your phone
- Your first name or nickname, if you give one (it's only used to greet you).
- The teams and competitions you follow, and your favourite team.
- Your alarms and reminders, the badges you've earned, and your settings.
- A saved copy of recent fixtures, so the app opens quickly and works offline.
This stays on your device. We don't receive it. Deleting the app deletes it.
What leaves your phone
- Fixtures and scores. To show games, the app asks our server (hosted by Cloudflare) for match data, naming the teams, competitions or matches it wants. Our server passes the request to a football data provider, API-Football (api-sports.io), and returns the answer. Your name, alarms and badges are not part of these requests.
- Team crests and flags. These are loaded from the data provider's image servers.
- Technical information. Like any internet service, our server and the providers above can see your device's IP address and the time of a request. We don't use this to identify you and we don't keep a record of who asked for what.
Anonymous usage counts
To find out whether people use the app and where it breaks, the app sends our server small reports such as "an alarm was set" or "the app opened". Each report carries:
- a random code the app made up for your install, which isn't linked to your name, Apple ID, email or phone;
- the app version and iOS version;
- the kind of event, with at most one short detail (for example which badge tier was earned, or the text of an unexpected error);
- the time it happened.
The reports never include your name, the teams or competitions you follow, your alarms' details, your location or your contacts. You can turn this off at any time in the app under Profile → About → Share anonymous usage. We keep these counts only for as long as we need them to improve the app.
Notifications and alarms
Alarms and reminders are scheduled on your phone and delivered by your phone. On iPhones with iOS 26 or later the app uses Apple's alarm feature, which can ring even when your phone is on Silent or in a Focus mode, and asks your permission first. We don't send push notifications from a server. You can turn alarms and notifications off at any time in your phone's Settings, but the app's alarms won't work without them.
What we don't do
- We don't ask you to create an account.
- We don't show ads or sell data.
- We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't collect your name or contacts.
Children
The app isn't directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes
If we add accounts or a league, or change what we collect, we'll update this page and the app first, and explain what changes.
